GWM Haval Australia has struck back against BYD and priced its upcoming H6 GT PHEV from $55,990 drive-away, promising a market-leading electric driving range of up to 180km in the process.
Due Down Under in the first quarter of next year, the 2025 GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV combines a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a pair of electric motors for a total system output of 342kW/762Nm and a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds.
Those figures make the inbound medium SUV the most powerful player in its segment as well as one of the quickest while decimating the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (84km) and BYD Sealion 6 (92km) for electric range.
The market-leading range comes primarily from the H6 GT PHEV’s 35.4kWh battery pack, which can be recharged at up to 48kW when using DC power – 30-80 per cent in 26 minutes – or 6.6kW on AC power.
“GWM has addressed one of the biggest customer concerns around ‘range anxiety’, providing a solution that will be best-in-class,” GWM Australia marketing and communications boss Steve Maciver said.
“This model is a significant milestone for GWM, showcasing our commitment to pioneering EV solutions that enhance the driving experience without compromise.”
Finer specification details will be announced closer to the model’s arrival Down Under, however GWM Australia has already started taking pre-orders via its website and national dealer network.
