2025 GWM Tank 300 upgraded, prices rise

GWM Australia has consolidated its 2025 Tank 300 SUV offering, shrinking the line-up from six down to four variants while increasing capability for remaining petrol and hybrid models.

The entry-level Lux is now available in diesel only, with the Lux petrol and hybrid variants now discontinued, while the top-spec Ultra continues with petrol, diesel and hybrid options.

Despite the 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine only arriving in March, the Chinese car-maker says customer demand for the oil burner has ultimately resulted in the need to streamline its range, with diesel now accounting for more than 60 per cent of monthly sales.

As a result, the entry price into the off-road SUV range has climbed by $1000, with the entry-level Lux diesel now priced from $47,990 drive away.

Meanwhile, the Tank 300 Ultra petrol is priced at $49,990 drive away, while the Ultra diesel commands a $2000 premium. That leaves the Ultra hybrid, which tops the range at $56,990 drive away.

Other 2025-model-year changes include increased capability for petrol and hybrid grades to match their diesel counterparts, with over 20 engineering enhancements to improve “durability, performance and driveability”.

GWM says larger front brakes and calipers have been added, along with strengthened front knuckles, upgraded wheel bearings and a reinforced propeller shaft.

Those changes now bring a maximum 3000kg braked towing capacity across the range – marking a 500kg increase for petrol and hybrid models – along with a 600kg payload for all but one variant (the Ultra petrol gets 610kg).

No aesthetic or powertrain changes have been made beyond those mentioned.
