UPDATE, 19/08/2025: Hyundai Australia has confirmed the nature of its upcoming Tucson update, locking in the leaked pricing and spec detailed below, as well as clarifying a couple of extra details.
For starters, the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol powertrain is indeed being dropped due to slow sales, having only accounted for 17 per cent of all Tucson sales between June last year and the end of July 2025 – the hybrid accounted for more than half (51%) while the base 2.0-litre petrol accounted for almost a third (32%).
Secondly, an N-Line version the Elite Hybrid 2WD will be retained after all (from $50,600) and has been added to the updated pricing table at the bottom of this report.
Finally, two new colours will be added to the mix: Ecotronic Grey Pearl (all variants) and Ecotronic Grey Matte (N-Line exclusive).
ORIGINAL, 15/08/2025: The 2025 Hyundai Tucson line-up is about to be slashed in both price and composition as the Korean brand bets big on hybrid demand.
According to Redbook, the MY26 Tucson range will consist only of the base 2.0-litre petrol powertrain and the flagship turbo-petrol-electric hybrid system. The mid-spec 1.6-litre turbo-petrol will be dropped, while remaining variants will be discounted by up to $2500.
A similar move was recently made with the smaller Hyundai Kona, though that compact SUV also gained a new trim level.
The MY26 Tucson will continue with the familiar Tucson, Elite and Premium grades. However, only the all-wheel drive hybrid versions of the Elite and Premium variants will seemingly be available with the optional N Line treatment.
Based on Redbook data, the upcoming price adjustments mean the Tucson will soon start from $38,100 plus on-road costs (down $1000) and top out at $59,600 (down $1500), with the discounts further sweetened by the addition of Digital Key 2 functionality.
The only other notable spec change appears to be the base model’s switch from 18-inch alloy wheels to 17s.
Hyundai Australia is yet to publicly announce the changes, though Redbook data is sourced directly from manufacturers.
The decision to axe the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol variant likely stems from a lack of demand, as was the case with the Kona.
MY26 Tucson vehicles are expected to arrive in showrooms next month.
