KGM Australia has become the latest brand to offer an electric ute Down Under, with its Musso EV now landing on our shores priced from $60,000 drive-away.
As you might expect, the 2025 KGM Musso EV two-wheel drive’s (2WD) are powered by a singular e-motor (152kW/339Nm) mounted to the front axle while the flagship all-wheel drive (AWD) doubles down with a punchier and more versatile dual-motor set-up (266kW/630Nm).
The motors all draw current from a BYD-sourced 80.6kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade battery pack that’s capable of 300kW DC fast charging (20-80 per cent in 31 minutes) and 11kW three-phase AC charging.
Effective ranges? Up to 420km (WLTP) for the 2WDs and 380km for the AWD – significantly more than the lacklustre LDV eT60 (330km).

In terms of its utilitarianism, the Musso EV is 5160mm long, 1920mm wide, 1750mm tall, sits on a 3150mm wheelbase, stands 181mm above the ground, and can carry up to 905kg in its tub (805kg for the AWD).
Braked towing capacity is 1800kg with a maximum tow ball down weight of 180kg.
A lot like the unrelated turbocharged diesel versions, the Musso EV AWD isn’t intended for hardcore off-road use, as evidenced by the aforementioned ground clearance and its 20.2-, 24.3- and 15.1-degree approach, ramp over and departure angles.

It does come with a lot of standard equipment however: 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, LED exterior lighting, self-levelling rear suspension, dual-zone climate control, dual 12.3-inch screens, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, powered, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outer seats, faux leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, a tub liner, and tub lighting.
The AWD variant adds the extra motor but no additional gear. By contrast, the Black Edge trim adds leather and suede seats, suede trim inserts, a black exterior treatment, dark wood-grain dash trim, and a black steering wheel bezel.
Headline safety equipment across the range meantime comprises eight airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, safety-distance alert, emergency stop signal, multi-collision braking, and trailer stability assist.

The 2025 KGM Musso EV is just the second electric ute to arrive in Australia, following the largely failed LDV eT60. However, it won’t have the market to itself for long: Toyota will launch its electric HiLux next year and Isuzu Ute will follow with its D-MAX EV.
Kia and Hyundai are each working on electric utes, and LDV will soon strike back with the pending release of the eTerron 9.
The Musso EV is covered by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and a 10-year/unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.
How much does the 2025 KGM Musso EV cost?
2WD – $60,000
2WD Black Edge – $62,000
AWD – $64,000
