The 2025 Kia EV3 will start from $47,600 plus on-road costs when it arrives in local showrooms later this month, with four variants set to comprise the initial line-up.
Sitting above the entry-level Air Standard Range will be the Air Long Range ($53,315), Earth Long Range ($58,600) and flagship GT-Line Long Range ($63,950), all of which will ship with an 81.4kWh battery pack and cover between 563km and 604km on a full charge depending on the variant.
The base model meantime will feature a 58.3kWh power pack providing a maximum range of up to 436km.
Every variant is powered by a singular 150kW/283Nm electric motor – acting on the front axle – and rides on a 400V of the Hyundai Motor Group’s e-GMP architecture as opposed to the N3 eK platform of the bigger, Chinese-sourced EV5.
Standard equipment highlights on the base Air trim (both variants) include 17-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate control interface, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Kia Connect, wireless smartphone mirroring and charging, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities and cloth seat upholstery.
The Earth builds on this with bigger 19-inch alloys, artificial leather seats and a powered tailgate, while the GT-Line goes further with a unique body kit and wheel design, a head-up display, sunroof, two-tone interior and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.
On the safety and tech fronts, all EV3s come with Kia’s new iPedal 3.0 adjustable regenerative braking system, Highway Driving Assist 2, a centre airbag and over-the-air updates.
Kia has previously confirmed the EV3 will coexist with the Niro EV at a global level, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case Down Under given the existing Hyundai Kona-based model starts from a heady $66,590 plus on-road costs – several thousand dollars more than the top-spec EV3 GT-Line.
Competition for the EV3 outside its own stable includes the Hyundai Kona Electric (from $54,000), Chery Omoda E5 (from $42,990), Zeekr X (from $56,900), Volvo EX30 (from $59,990), Smart #1 (from $54,900) and BYD Atto 3 (from $39,990).
