The 2025 Kia EV4 will be one of the most affordable Korean EVs when it comes to market next year and it seems Kia is looking to emulate the two-body-style set-up being plotted for the all-new K4, setting the scene for an intriguing small-car line-up.
We already know the K4 will be offered here in both hatch and sedan forms and without any form of electrification (to start with), but now spy imagery out of the Nürburgring suggests the EV4 will follow suit and be offered with the option of a five-door body.
Our covert Euro snappers spotted this heavily camouflaged EV4 hatch lapping the Green Hell with particular attention paid to its rear end in an effort to try and mask the fact this prototype isn’t a sedan – thus far the only EV4 body style shown officially.
It’s a clever move by Kia seeing as customers will have eventually have the option of the internal combustion K4 hatch and sedan, battery-electric EV4 hatch and sedan as well as the hybrid Seltos and BEV EV3 SUVs, yielding a formidable compact portfolio offering most major fuel types.
Odds are the EV4 hatch will get close to the more than 620km range expected for its sedan sibling and offer significantly more room inside than the equivalent K4 owing to the compact nature and packaging of battery-electric powertrains.
With the EV3 expected to sneak under the $50k barrier, the EV4 will likely start around the same mark if not slightly upstream owing to the superior driving range it will offer, however it should ultimately share all the same mechanicals as the inbound SUV.
As previously reported, the EV3 will be offered with two battery capacities: 58.3kWh (up to 430km) and 84.1kWh (up to 599km), each sustaining a 150kW/283Nm electric motor on the front axle.
