Kia will debut the production-spec EV4 electric sedan and PV5 commercial vehicle on February 27 along with the Concept EV2 which, for all intents and purposes, will be about 80 per cent of the way to being a production-spec vehicle.
The three models will be the headline acts of the 2025 Kia EV Day where the Korean brand will announce and detail its ‘expanded global EV leadership strategy’, a key component of which will be a new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) approach to vehicle development.
Unsurprisingly the 2025 Kia EV4 and 2025 Kia PV5 look almost identical to their respective concepts in the supplied close-ups while the 2026 Kia Concept EV2 seems to loosely resemble the bigger EV3, albeit with its own unique rear lighting arrangement.
The EV4 is the small car alternative to the EV3 compact SUV and will ride on the same 400V version of the modular e-GMP architecture, likely featuring identical powertrains and similar outright performance but more range – more than 620km – thanks to its slipperier shape.
The PV5 meantime will ride on the Purpose Built Vehicle platform and be offered in both ute, van and people carrier forms.
“The Kia EV4, Kia PV5, and Kia Concept EV2 feature the brand’s cutting-edge electric platform technology and demonstrate Kia’s clear determination to lead global sustainable mobility in the passenger and business sectors to satisfy customers’ diverse needs everywhere,” Kia said in a statement.
“Kia will share its overall PBV strategy, providing full details of the business, vision, product line-up, and launch to support the roll-out of the PV5.
“In addition, the company will also display its game-changing PBV platform. This dedicated battery-electric skateboard architecture underpins the brand’s new PBV business by enabling the flexible combination of various types of vehicle bodies.”
None of the three models have been confirmed for Australia thus far but odds are the EV4 and PV5 will make landfall either late this year or early in 2026.
The EV2 meantime is understood to be off the table for our market since it will be produced in Slovakia and thereby attract a five per cent import tariff; defeating its budget-friendly intentions compared to the bigger and Korean-sourced EV3.
