The Land Rover Defender 90, 110 and 130 range has received an overhaul for the 2025 model year, headlined by a more powerful diesel engine.
Orders are now being taken for the upgraded 2025 Land Rover Defender, ahead of first deliveries due in September this year. See our full price list below.
Most notably, the D300 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel has been replaced by a new D350 unit with the same displacement that produces 257kW and 700Nm of torque - up 37kW and 50Nm.
No performance or fuel economy figures have been released for the new engine, but we expect it to be significantly quicker than the 7.0sec it takes the outgoing D300 to launch from 0-100km/h.
Other under-bonnet action, in Europe at least, includes the Defender P400 dropping its 294kW/550Nm 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine for the significantly more powerful 386kW/625Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that is already available in the P525 versions.
The swap was made because the petrol six-cylinder does not meet incoming Euro 6e emissions regulations.
In Australia, the P400 lives on unchanged for a little longer in the Defender, with P525 considered a different variant.
Inside, the big news concerns the full-size Defender 130 that is now offered with a pair of new heated and ventilated captain's chairs that replace the middle bench, enhancing comfort and aiding access to the third row.
As well as comfier, the new captain chairs are both heated and ventilated and are available on the Defender 130 V8.
The individual second-row seats can be added on the Defender X and V8 as part of a larger Signature Interior pack that brings 14-way electric-adjustable front seats, third-row seat heating, and Windsor leather and Kvadrat upholstery that combine with a Suedecloth headlining.
The Defender model range has now been simplified too, comprising S, X and V8 grades with the 90 Shorty, and S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X and V8 variants with the 110.
The 130 comes in X-Dynamic SE, Outbound and V8 guise.
Finally, a new Sedona Edition based on the 110 wagon will be introduced to some markets, adding bespoke red paint with black trim and bonnet decals that are meant to depict the US town's rocky terrain.
The new limited-run Defender also sits on huge gloss black 22-inch rims and gets black bash plates, side steps and wheel-arch protection.
Other changes to the Defender range include a bundling of popular options into new simplified packs - like the Off-Road pack (adding active diff, all-terrain tyres and wade sensor), Advanced Off-Road Pack (Terrain Response 2, air springs and adaptive dampers) and an Air Suspension pack.
Further Cold Climate Pack, Towing Pack and a Comfort and Convenience Pack and Premium Upgrade Interior pack are all also now available to order.
