The diesel-powered 2025 LDV Terron 9 pick-up truck has been teased officially by LDV Australia barely a fortnight after camouflaged prototypes were spotted sculking about the Aussie road network.
Set to be revealed in the coming months and offered Down Under by mid-2025, LDV Australia has confirmed the all-new load lugger is currently undergoing final validation testing in NSW, Victoria and Queensland, specifically of its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Positioned above the T60, the LDV Terron 9 measures in at 5500mm long (+105mm), 1997mm wide (+97mm), stands 1860mm (+41mm) and rides on a 3300mm wheelbase (+125mm), making it considerably bigger than the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.
Both the internal combustion and battery-electric versions have been confirmed for Australia, the latter of which has already made its global debut.
The former will meantime be offered with an all-new 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine tipped to output 164kW of power and 500-ish newton metres of torque – more than enough to achieve a segment-appropriate 3500kg braked towing capacity.
It’s thought the 2.5-litre turbo-diesel will be paired with an eight-speed automatic with either rear- or four-wheel drive.
The eTerron 9, meantime, will be offered in both single- and dual-motor forms good for 200kW and 325kW respectively.
The latter version is said to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.8 seconds with the help of all-wheel drive, while a large 102kWh lithium-ion battery will provide a claimed WLTP range of about 430km.
When it launches, the flagship eTerron 9 gets the brand’s most modern cabin yet, headlined by a pair of large 12.3-inch screens and a mountain of space. The added benefit of the eTerron 9 is it also comes with a large frunk.
While admitting the eT60 has only ever recorded modest sales Down Under, LDV Australia general manager Dinesh Chinnappa said LDV has “high expectations” for the eTerron 9.
"This is a completely different vehicle, inside and out,” he said.
“We are proud that the LDV eT60 was the first electric ute in Australian showrooms, but we are also proud to demonstrate just how far electric ute technology has progressed with this all-new model.”
