2025 Leapmotor B10 is Oz’s cheapest electric SUV

Two-pronged line-up inbound with an introductory offer to tempt a few extra buyers

The News

The 2025 Leapmotor B10 compact SUV will arrive Down Under in November priced from $38,990 drive-away, making it Australia’s cheapest electric SUV by more than $1000.

The Key Details

  • Two variants: Style ($38,990 d/a) and Design LR ($41,990 d/a)
  • NEDC ranges of 442km and 516km respectively
  • $200 for three years servicing if purchased before January 31
  • Headline equipment: 14.6-inch touchscreen, 3D cockpit, 360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof

The Finer Details

Both B10 variants are powered by a 160kW/240Nm electric motor mounted to the rear axle and draw current from an LFP battery, albeit different capacities.

The base Style features a 56.2kWh pack while the Design LR (Long Range) nabs a 67.1kWh unit, hence its superior NEDC range (see above) – the LR also gets 168kW DC fast-charging capabilities that can yield a 30-80 per cent top-up in about 20 minutes.

Neither is a dedicated performance model, yet Leapmotor have confirmed an eight-second 0-100km/h time and a top speed of 170km/h.

Standard equipment on the Style includes 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, a fixed panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade, climate control, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch multimedia screen with sat-nav, wireless phone charger, NFC and Bluetooth key, connected services, a 360-degree camera with dynamic guidelines and an integrated 360-degree dashcam recorder.

The Design LR ups the ante with its bigger battery as well as ‘TechnoLeather’ upholstery, heated, cooled and power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, LED rear light bar, rain-sensing frameless wipers, rear centre armrest, a 12-speaker surround audio system, powered tailgate, rear privacy glass and ambient interior lighting.

Smartphone mirroring is “targeted for delivery” in January via an over-the-air update.

The Road Ahead

Like a lot of new Chinese players, Leapmotor is looking to maximise the B10’s entry splash with an introductory offer: the first three services will total $200 for those who register their interest by October 31 and go on to purchase a vehicle by January 31.

It will be interesting to see how MG, Chery and the other budget EV players react to the B10’s introduction seeing as it undercuts the S5EV by crisp $2000, not to mention the E5 by at least several hundred dollars (depending on the state) by the time it’s on the road.

How much does the 2025 Leapmotor B10 cost?
Style – $38,990
Design LR – $41,990
* Prices are drive-away
