Chinese premium brand Lynk & Co has shown off its all-new 2025 Lynk & Co 02 SUV-coupe ahead of its official debut at the Paris motor show this week.
Built to compete in the emerging small premium SUV market, the new Lynk & Co 02 will go head-to-head with both the BMW iX1 and the Mercedes EQA but perhaps the new sport SUV's biggest competition will be the mechanically identical Smart #1, Volvo EX30 and new Zeekr X that all share a common platform and powertrain.
That means the new 02 sits on Geely's advanced new-generation Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) that sees the latest Lynk & Co SUV measure in at 4460mm long, 1845mm wide and 1573mm tall.
Ensuring nobody will mistake it for a Volvo or Zeekr, the Lynk & Co 02 sports its own unique styling that combines curvy front styling, fang-shaped LED headlamps, rakish coupe-lines and an unusual rear spoiler that features an LED lightbar along its leading edge.
Large 19-inch wheels are standard on base models while more expensive versions ride on 20-inch alloy wheels, while two-tone paint and a full-width panoramic roof will also be available.
New features fresh for the 02 include something called a 'Hey Honk', that is a customisable sound that can help signal to other road users the near-silent EV is approaching, which is said to be a far politer way of alert pedestrians and cyclists compared to using the car's horn.
Within, there's a flat-bottomed oval steering wheel, two-tier dash and a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel that's combined with a 15.4-inch infotainment. As well as a clean uncluttered design Lynk & Co designers claim they employ plenty of recycled materials in its construction, while new translucent materials all help the 02 stand out.
Equipment levels are high, with dual wireless chargers, a heated steering wheel and heated electric seats are standard, while a new Journey Camera uses a lens mounted within the rear-view mirror to snap selfies on a road trip.
Other weird tech includes a Sharing Strap that a gentle tug of the pull located beside the steering wheel activates a Lynk & Co app that allows others to borrow your car in just a few steps.
Advanced driver assist tech, meanwhile, includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), front/rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, blind spot warning and traffic sign recognition.
Boot space is reasonable with a 410 litre rear boot that's bolstered by an additional 15L frunk.
Driving the 02's rear wheels is the same 200kW/343Nm e-motor used by Volvo, Smart and Zeekr, that is combined with a 66kWh lithium-ion battery.
Acceleration is decent, with 0-100km/h taking just 5.5 seconds, while top speed is 180km/h.
With a full charge, Lynk & Co says the 02 can travel up to 445km on the WLTP cycle, while a 10-80 per cent charge at a rate of up to 150kW takes around 30 minutes.
In Europe the Lynk & Co 02 has already been priced from €35,495 ($57,500) – a few grand less than the $59,990 (plus on-roads) charged for the latest Volvo EX30.
Available to order now it's thought that deliveries of the new 02 could start before the end of this year but no information has been released in right-hand production which could pave the way for a launch Down Under.
Speaking of which Geely, which also owns Polestar and Lotus, announced back in 2021 Lynk & Co would go on-sale in Australia in 2025 which would make the new 02 compact SUV and ideal car to spearhead its arrival.
