2025 Mazda BT-50 ute takes shape

New-look, new features and new tech previewed for facelifted Mazda BT-50 ute

Mazda has revealed the first official details of the upgraded 2025 Mazda BT-50 dual-cab ute, which will make its global debut in Australia on October 18, 2024.

“As the lead market co-ordinating the global launch of the new Mazda BT-50, Mazda Australia is today sharing a sneak preview ahead of its official October reveal,” the company said in a press release.

Mazda hasn’t confirmed any concrete details just yet, but the first teaser image tells us a new-look front-end design is part of the upgrade, set to provide more machismo for the Toyota HiLux competitor.

Together with new-look LED headlights that lean into the brand’s SUV design philosophy, the new pick-up truck appears to deliver a more rugged and less aquiline aesthetic.

The Mazda BT-50 is the brand’s second best-selling after the Mazda CX-5 mid-size SUV and will be keen to steal a few sales from the dominant Ford Ranger, not to mention other popular utes such as the Mitsubishi Triton and its twin-under-the-skin, the Isuzu D-MAX.

The facelifted Mazda BT-50 will benefit “…from a major new update for 2025, ushering in a comprehensive redesign inside and out, as well as significant enhancements to the Human Machine Interface, associated safety and assistance systems and additional functionality,” reads the Mazda press statement.

Beyond the blusterous new exterior design, the fresh-faced BT-50 ute is expected to deliver similar upgrades seen in the Isuzu D-Max, that was launched earlier in 2024. That could mean a larger 7.0-inch instrument display up from the puny 4.2-inch screen in the current vehicle.
