Mazda Australia has slashed pricing for its 2025 Mazda CX-90 by up to $7800, with the upmarket Toyota Kluger rival now starting from $68,800 plus on-road costs (ORCs) for the entry CX-90 G50E Touring – $6000 less than before.
Crucially, despite slashing the cost of every member of the Mazda CX-90 range, Mazda Australia has confirmed that no features have been removed from any of the trims, with the price reductions purely designed to boost value for customers.
Available with either a 3.3-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol engine, good for a claimed 254kW and 500Nm, or a 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel (187kW/550Nm), both engines get 48-volt mild-hybrid tech and come with an eight-speed automatic transmission that is combined with all-wheel drive.
The base Touring trim gets 19-inch alloy wheels, auto LED headlights, power fold mirrors, keyless start and go, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with integrated sat-nav, wireless phone charger, an eight-speaker sound system, head-up display, tri-zone climate control and heated leather seats.
Opt for the GT, that’s now priced from $77,800 plus ORCs – $6000 less than before – and it adds a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment, 21-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlamps, heated rear seats and steering wheel, a panoramic roof and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
Finally, at the top of the tree is the Azami grade priced from $86,070 plus ORCs – $7800 less than before – which adds 21-inch black metallic machined alloy wheels, ambient lighting, Nappa leather seats, a frameless interior mirror, interior footwell light and ventilated front seats.
A further Takumi package and SP Pack are also offered, with the Takumi adding white Nappa leather, a cloth-wrapped dash, white maple wood and second-row ventilated captain’s chairs.
The SP Pack, meanwhile, adds tan-coloured Nappa leather, a suede-wrapped dash, two-tone steering wheel and a pair of second-row ventilated captain’s chairs.
Mazda Australia has not announced the reason for the price drop but it’s thought buyers have struggled with the concept of the CX-90 being an indirect rival for the sub-$50,000 CX-9.
In the first three months of this year Mazda has sold just 190 CX-90s – a long way off the 1283 narrow-bodied and cheaper CX-80s that found homes in the same period.
