MG Motor has revealed its all-new S6 EV; a tech-packed electric medium SUV blending long range with strong performance and undoubtedly good value.

The S6 EV shares its MSP underpinnings with the smaller S5 EV already on sale in Australia and offers two powertrains – 180kW/350Nm single-motor, 266kW/540Nm dual-motor – based around a 77kWh battery pack.
The 180kW/350Nm single-motor set-up is good for up to 529km of WLTP range and will go from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds while the 266kW/530Nm dual-motor will cover up to 484km and hit 100km/h in 5.1 seconds.
All versions come with five drive modes and five regenerative braking settings, including one-pedal mode.

Inside, there’s a 12.8-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 674-litre boot which expands out to 1910L when the rear seats are folded, plus a 124-litre frunk.
Safety is a strong suit, with a five-star European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) rating and MG Pilot driver-assist tech including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and driver fatigue detection.
The battery can be DC fast-charged at up to 144kW for a 38-minute 10-80 per cent top up.

MG Motor Australia has made it clear it want to make electrified powertrains available to the masses, so it would be a no-brainer to expect the S6 EV to come to market sometime next year as an electric alternative to the existing HS.
If it does, it will enter arguably the most competitive EV segment in the country, going up against the XPeng G6, Leapmotor C10 EV, BYD Sealion 7, Geely EX5, GAC AION V, Nissan Ariya, Skoda Elroq, VW ID.4, Kia EV5, Deepal S07, and of course, the Tesla Model Y.
