The new 2025 Morgan Supersport has been unwrapped, with the successor to the Plus Six blending the traditional Morgan silhouette with the car-maker’s latest design cues, tech and an upgraded chassis that’s all been introduced to boost its usability.
Set to be priced from £105,160 ($A216,000) when sales start later this year, there’s no word on the Supersport’s Australian plans or debut, but if/when it is confirmed, it’s thought the new model will be the British marque’s most convincing alternative to a Porsche 911 or Aston Martin Vantage yet.
Featuring cleaner more aerodynamic lines than before, without abandoning the traditional nod to models from its 115-year-long heritage, the new Supersport gains a pair of new LED headlamps and a bolder integrated front bumper but retains the trademark horseshoe grille.
Like before the entire body is made of lightweight aluminium while the prominent flared rear fenders house 18-inch Superlite wheels that can be upgraded 19-inch forged aluminium Aerolite rims.
At the rear, the teardrop shape sees an entirely new tail that features low-mounted round LED lamps, dual exhausts and a motorsport-derived diffuser.
As standard, the retro roadster bags a folding mohair soft top, but it also comes with the option of a carbon-fibre hard top.
Inside, the Supersport picks up where the last Plus Six left off and gets Scottish and real wood trim.
There’s now more space behind the driver and passenger seats and even a glovebox, small boot and option of a luggage rack.
Total carrying capacity has not been claimed, but the olde-worlde British brand says there'’ now enough space for overnight bags and side screen stowage.
Fresh tech includes a Sennheiser sound system, wireless charging pouch on the centre console and hands-free calling – a first for Morgan.
Like the Plus Six, the new Supersport rides on the CXV aluminium spaceframe but gets a new steering system and revised long-travel suspension for a better ride-handling balance.
Options include adjustable Nitron dampers and a limited-slip rear differential. Even with the extra luxuries and new tech added, Morgan claims the Supersport only weighs 1170kg.
Under the bonnet is an updated version of the last Plus Six’s BMW-sourced turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine that produces 250kW/500Nm, paired combined exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Currently the change in ADR rules mean that the new range of Morgan models have been off-limits for Australians, but the car-maker has declared that it remains “committed to supply the Australian market” and that “new models will be made available to Australian enthusiasts in the future”, leaving the door ajar for the new Supersport to come here later.
