Pagani has quite literally lifted the lid on its latest Utopia hypercar by revealing a new roadster version.
Limited to just 130 units worldwide, each priced from €3.1 million ($A5.12m) plus on-road costs, the 2025 Pagani Utopia Roadster will actually have a bigger and longer production run than its coupe sibling (99 units).
One key difference between the Utopia Roadster and its convertible Zonda/Huayra predecessors is the fact the convertible was designed and developed in tandem with the coupe, rather than being designed and engineered later.
That means it should deliver a driving experience that’s identical to its established coupe stablemate; indeed, according to Pagani, its open-top customers will no longer have to compromise on outright performance.
Going one step further, Pagani will also offer two roof mechanisms for the Utopia Roadster: a single-panel hard-top and a collapsible fabric unit.
The former is exactly what you’d expect and can’t be stashed in the car once it’s been removed – unlike the latter, which folds up nicely into a suitcase and can be taken with you, providing the classic ‘spyder’ look when in place.
Thanks to the same blend of carbon-based lightweight materials as the standard Utopia – including its carbon-titanium monocoque chassis without any reinforcements – the Roadster tips the scales at an identical 1280kg dry.
It retains the coupe’s Mercedes-AMG sourced 635kW/1100Nm twin-turbo 6.0-litre petrol V12 and drive is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via an Xtrac seven-speed manual transmission and electromechanical rear differential, although concrete performance figures are yet to be announced.
The whole package rolls on milled and staggered 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber as standard, but even stickier Trofeo RS tyres will be optionally available.
Stopping duties are once again handled by Brembo callipers acting on carbon-ceramic rotors, while double-wishbone suspension features both front and rear – just like the coupe.
The 2025 Pagani Utopia Roadster will make its first public appearance at Monterey Car Week next month, fitted with a number of other options including bold Habanero Red paint paired with an exposed carbon-fibre body finish, plus a Sport Pack that adds carbon-titanium seats, a titanium exhaust, carbon wheel deflectors and Trofeo RS rubber.
