Renault Australia has finally announced the pricing for its inbound Duster, with the opening figure being $31,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level Evolution 4x2 – or $34,990 drive-away for a “limited time”.
How long that limited time is is unclear right now, but what is clear now orderbooks have opened, is the range composition: four variants across two trims and two previously detailed powertrains.
Both the Evolution and better-specced Techno (from $36,990) will be available with the choice of a 4x2 or 4x4 powertrain, the former being front-drive and featuring a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine good for 113kW/250Nm.
A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic takes care of transmission duties.
The 4x4 meantime will score a six-speed manual transmission and a 1.2-litre mild-hybrid turbo-triple outputting 96kW/230Nm.
Claimed fuel economy: 6.5L/100km for the 4x2 and 5.7L/100km for the 4x4.
Standard features on the Evolution includes cloth upholstery, a leather steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.1-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, wireless charging, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a six-speaker sound system, express windows, USB-C charging ports, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The Techno builds on this with ‘premium’ cloth upholstery, rear privacy glass, blind spot warning, a multi-view camera, front parking sensors, smart key card, proximity central locking, automatic high beam, 18-inch alloys and modular roof rails.
Headline safety gear common to all variants meantime comprises emergency brake assist, active emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, safe following distance warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert, tyre pressure warning and an ADAS personalised settings shortcut.
Like the Subaru Crosstrek and Jeep Compass, the 2025 Renault Duster is pitched as something of a mini adventure rig amongst its immediate competition, hence the 4x4 versions come with hill descent control, terrain modes and up to 212mm of ground clearance.
The 4x2s meantime don’t come with any of these goodies and only stand 174mm above the ground, but they strike back with a significantly bigger boot: 472 litres vs 358 litres.
All variants are rated to tow up to 1500kg (braked) and will be available in Solid White, Cedar Green, Sandstone, Terracotta, Shadow Grey, Khaki Green and Pearlescent Black.
Servicing is due every 12 months/30,000km – whichever comes first – with both powertrains demanding 95RON.
