The 2025 Skoda Elroq will be priced from $54,990 plus on-road costs (ORCs) when sales of the new BYD Atto 3 rival arrives in Australian showrooms in coming months.
Closer in size, at 4488mm long, to the BYD Atto 3 (4455mm) than the much-larger Tesla Model Y (4751mm), the most affordable new Skoda Elroq is $15,000 cheaper than the larger Enyaq ($69,990 plus ORCs) and slots in $4000 under the most affordable Tesla Model Y RWD ($58,900 plus ORCs).
Fending off the challenge from the considerably cheaper BYD Atto 3 ($44,990 plus ORCs), the new Elroq produces more power (210kW versus 150kW) and has a far longer range (529km versus 420km).
Available in either 85 Select ($54,990 plus ORCs) or 130 Edition ($64,990 plus ORCs) trim, both versions of the new Elroq come with a single rear-mounted e-motor that produces 210kW and 545Nm of torque, and is combined with a 77kWh (82kWh gross) nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery that provides up to 529km of range on the Euro WLTP test cycle.
In Europe up to 581km can be covered on a single charge, but our cars are heavier and better equipped and ride on range-sapping big wheels.
With that level of power, the Elroq can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds.
Capable of being DC fast charged at up to 175kW, Skoda claims a 10 to 80 per cent top up will take around 28 minutes.
The base-spec Elroq 85 Select rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and gets LED headlights and a large 13-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control and heated front seats.
The range-topping Elroq 130 Edition, meanwhile, is a reference to 130-year anniversary of Skoda’s founding as a bicycle maker. It gets big 21-inch wheels, matrix LED lights, a head-up display, tri-zone climate control, electric white and black seats, orange seatbelts, a 360-degree camera and an electric tailgate.
More variants of the 2025 Skoda Elroq are scheduled to arrive later, including the recently unwrapped 250kW Elroq RS.
Skoda says the Elroq should reach dealer showrooms this August or September.
