The 2025 Skoda Elroq has finally been unveiled and will enter Aussie showrooms in the second half of next year as the indirect electric replacement for the Karoq small-medium SUV.
Shown in full overnight, the Elroq looks nothing like any other current Skoda model and could almost have come from one of Kia’s design houses, at least when viewed front-on.
The defining feature of its design is what Skoda calls the Tech-Deck Face, which the brand describes as “a minimalist evolution of the traditional Skoda grille”, with ‘SKODA’ lettering replacing “the original round logo on the bonnet or steering wheel”.
Supporting the Tech-Deck is a trapezoid front bumper, sunken headlights and richly-contoured air dams.
The futuristic look is directly reflective of the four advanced powertrains – three single-motor (RWD), one dual-motor (AWD) – set to be available from launch, all based around either a 55kWh, 63kWh or 82kWh battery pack.
The entry-level Elroq 50 will pair the 55kWh battery with a 125kW motor and cover roughly 370km (WLTP) on a full charge, whereas the second tier Elroq 60 will score the 63kWh unit and up the ante with a 150kW motor and circa-400km range.
At the top of the tree and harnessing the 82kWh battery, the Elroq 85 will be offered in two versions: a 210kW single-motor offering some 560km of range, and a punchier ‘85x’ dual-motor variant set for a 2025 debut.
Skoda has previously confirmed a hot RS flagship is also in the works, but don’t expect to see it until at least next year, let alone in Aussie showrooms before 2026.
DC fast-charging capabilities vary between 145kW and 175kW depending on the battery pack, though every one of them will go from 10-80 per cent in less than 30 minutes under optimal conditions.
The exterior’s futuristic vibes extend to the cabin design, with the multi-layered dash dominated by a 13-inch infotainment display and housing a modestly-sized digital driver’s display deep within a sunken binnacle.
Sustainably-sourced and recycled materials are prevalent across all grades, including the Sportline which will don a more aggressive demeanour inside and out and ride on lowered suspension as standard.
Boot space is rated at 470 litres and expands out to 1580L when the second row is folded flat, with an extra 48L of storage space available around the cabin via the various compartments, consoles and door bins etc.
Simply Clever touches meantime include a charging cable holder under the tailgate, several storage trays in the boot, a dual-device wireless charging pad and buttress-style centre console.
