2025 Skoda Epiq EV to start from $41,000 in Europe

Skoda’s all-new small SUV to become brand’s entry-level EV, cut from same cloth as Volkswagen ID.2 and Cupra Raval

Skoda has released images showing the near-production version of its upcoming entry-level electric car – now confirmed as the 2025 Skoda Epiq – which the Czech car-maker says will reach European showrooms next year with a targeted starting price of €25,000 ($A41,460).

Based on the same ‘MEB Entry’ platform as the Volkswagen ID.2 and Cupra Raval, and to be built alongside its cousins in the same factory in Spain, the Skoda Epiq draws styling cues from the larger 2022 Skoda Vision 7S concept and measures just 4.1 metres long.

The exterior is marked by slotted bumpers, upswept front fascia features and stout proportions, with the T-shaped daytime running lights complemented at the rear by a matching set of LED tail-lights.

Skoda claims the Epiq will have a driving range of more than 400km, while the dedicated EV platform provides for a relatively roomy five-seater cabin and 490 litres of boot space behind the rear seats.

Other headline features include bi-directional charging capability, a two-spoke steering wheel, sustainable cabin materials, widescreen infotainment display, digital instrument cluster, free-floating centre console, mobile digital key and wireless phone charging.

Being a Skoda, numerous other ‘simply clever’ touches like bag hooks, cargo elements, fastening hooks and a hidden underfloor compartment will feature as well.

The Epiq will be one of six new electric cars revealed by Skoda between now and the end of 2026.

There’s no confirmation of an Australian release yet, with the VW-owned brand confirming only the larger 2024 Skoda Enyaq at this stage.

It’s due late this year, while the forthcoming all-new Skoda Elroq mid-size SUV – an EV replacement for the current Karoq – will also be keenly sought-after for sale Down Under, once it’s revealed later in 2024.
