2025 Subaru BRZ freshens up

MY25 upgrade brings sport mode for the manuals but no price increase

The 2025 Subaru BRZ has arrived in Australia with a couple of choice upgrades for the new model year, however prices have remained steady.

Still starting from $43,790 plus on-road costs and topping out at $49,690, the latest BRZ now comes with a ‘sport’ drive mode for the manual variants while the range-topping tS scores a full-sized spare instead of a measly tyre repair kit.

Sport mode not only sharpens up throttle response but also dials up the volume of the active sound control system inside the cabin, adding an extra layer of engagement in the heat of battle.

No changes have been made to the BRZ’s 2.4-litre flat-four which continues to produce 174kW/250Nm and launch the compact coupe from 0-100km/h in a claimed 6.6 seconds – the top speed is still 226km/h.

It was thought the MY25 BRZ would come with new dampers and tweaked power steering parameters to improve the ride and sharpen responses, although Subaru Australia has yet to confirm if our cars get the revised chassis offered elsewhere.

Despite admirably keeping pricing static, it’s worth remembering Subaru ramped the BRZ’s price tags by $3500 last year when the manual versions received the car-maker’s latest autonomous braking and lane-departure warning tech, that had previously only been available on the automatic.

Between January and October this year, Subaru says it delivered an impressive 832 BRZs, easily out-selling both the closely related Toyota GR 86 (506) and the Mazda MX-5 (568).
