2025 Tesla Model Y gets over-the-air power boost

Tesla has introduced a new Acceleration Boost over-the-air update performance boost for its latest 2025 Tesla Model Y 'Juniper' SUV that's claimed to add an extra power burst of 75kW off the line on the Long Range AWD.

In the US, the new Acceleration Boost is available through the car-maker's app and costs $US2000 ($A3100) for the over-the-air update that is said to slash the 0-60mph (0-97km/h) with a US-style roll-out dash from 4.6 seconds to just 4.2 seconds.

There's no word how the extra power has slashed the 0-100km/h sprint that stands at 4.8 seconds but it's been tipped that post-upgrade the Model Y could record a 4.6 second time.

Said to be already standard on the Model Y Launch Edition, the new upgrade is believed to have been offered on the pre-facelifted mid-size Tesla SUV.

It's not been announced if a similar power boost will be offered for the base Rear Wheel Drive version, but it's thought the performance enhancement will go some way to satisfying owners waiting for a replacement for the faster-still Model Y Performance.

There's no word yet when the Acceleration Boost will be deployed on Australian owners' Tesla app, but it's expected to be introduced soon in a bid to help reverse slowing sales.
