BMW’s X1 and X2 SUV line-ups have been detailed for Australia, with a wave of changes to the compact SUV pair including the addition of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrains, along with increased standard equipment levels. Meanwhile, the electric iX1 and iX2 ranges have each been distilled down to a single variant. As a result, entry pricing for both the X1 and X2 has increased by $4300 and $5900, respectively.

The 2026 BMW X1 range now starts from $66,700 before on-road costs, with the previous entry-level three-cylinder sDrive18i (from $62,400) and four-cylinder xDrive20i now replaced by a new sDrive20i variant, powered by a three-cylinder mild-hybrid engine (125kW/280Nm).
PHEV power has been added to the X1 range in the form of the xDrive25e – powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with an 80kW e-motor and 14.2kWh battery pack – priced from $79,500 plus on-road costs.
The PHEV is said to deliver 180kW (combined) and 477Nm, with a claimed electric driving range of around 80km and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds.

When it comes to the electric iX1 and iX2 range, the base eDrive20 variants have been removed, with the pair of electric SUVs now offered in a single xDrive30 variant, which gain new silicon carbide (SiC) inverters, to “enhance performance, power density and battery range”.
As a result, entry price into the iX1 and iX2 range has bumped up by as much as $6200, with the most affordable iX1 now priced from $86,800 (plus ORCs).
With stricter Euro 6e emissions regulations set to come into effect this November, the range-topping X1 and X2 M35i xDrive variants have each received reduced peak power outputs of 221kW (down 12kW), while peak torque remains unchanged at 400Nm.
The revised X1 and X2 line-ups also see enhanced equipment levels, with the base X1 sDrive20i variants now equipped with heated front seats and powered front seats with driver’s memory, while the xDrive25e PHEV nabs an M Sport package with 19-inch wheels and BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional.
For the X2 range, the base sDrive20i adds 19-inch wheels (M Sport package).

BMW says the updated MY26 X1 and X2 ranges are due Down Under in mid-2026, around the same time as its new iX3 is set to launch.
