The mystery Mustang Ford teased last week has been outed as the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC just a day before its global reveal.

Shown in a new Red Bull feature starring Max Verstappen and Arvid Lindblad, the Mustang Dark Horse SC looks completely different to its donor car with an all-new front fascia, splitter, forged wheels, side skirts, rear wing, bonnet, and rear apron.
The front and rear tracks also look to have been widened, the brakes enlarged and the cabin stripped out.
It’s hard to tell exactly what’s changed about the interior due to the camouflage, but the rear seats are definitely missing (replaced by bracing), the steering wheel now has a 12 o’clock marker, and we’d hazard a guess that the front seats are more aggressive buckets at the very least.

No doubt there’s some carbon-fibre or other lightweight trim scattered about the place.
Verstappen was the one to pilot the fantastically orange muscle car on camera, during which we can hear the roar of a freer-breathing exhaust, an angrier intake and the iconic whine of a supercharger.
The four-time F1 world champion’s car was fitted with paddle shifters, denoting the inclusion of an automatic transmission, though it’s unclear exactly which one – odds are it’s the same 10-speed torque converter as the standard Dark Horse, but there’s an outside chance it could be the GTD’s eight-speed dual-clutch unit.

There’s less than 24 hours left before the Dark Horse SC makes its official debut at Ford Racing’s 2026 season launch.
Ford Australia said it had “no news to share on any plans” to offer the new model Down Under.
This will likely deflate local fans since we’ve never had a true factory-produced supercharged Mustang offered here through official channels – the limited-run Mustang R-Spec was a joint effort engineered locally by Ford Australia and Herrod Performance.
