Despite not being due in local showrooms until next year, Ford Australia has announced the pricing and some key details of its segment-busting Ranger Super Duty.
Three versions will be available from launch: the Single Cab-Chassis ($82,990), Super Cab-Chassis ($86,490) and Double Cab-Chassis ($89,990), though none of them come with a tray as standard – you’ll need to front another $5966-$9376 if you want to carry stuff.
When you do, the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty will be up for the task with a maximum payload of 1982kg for the Single Cab-Chassis (Super Cab-Chassis: 1896kg, Double Cab-Chassis: 1825kg) thanks to its unique suspension, heavy-duty axles and the resulting 4500kg GVM.
On the same ticket, it offers 4500kg braked towing capabilities and an 8000kg GCM.
Ford hasn’t divulged all the Ranger Super Duty’s metrics just yet, but has nominated a maximum ground clearance of 299mm, an 850mm wading depth and the same 1710mm tracks as the Ranger Raptor – more dimensions will be announced later.
Motivating this mid-sized ute beefcake is a retuned version of the ‘Lion’ 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, outputting 154kW/600Nm and benefitting from an enhanced cooling system said to be 25 per cent more efficient than the standard Ranger V6’s.
The mill has been retuned to meet EU6 heavy-duty vehicle emission requirements and still requires AdBlue but now comes with a manually-cleanable diesel particulate filter rather than the automatic burn-off unit fitted to standard Rangers.
Other, previously confirmed, enhancements include a 130-litre fuel tank, a new dual-range transfer case, bigger and locking differentials front and rear, stronger drive shafts, more powerful alternator fan, beefier ladder-frame, heavy-duty underbody protection, 33-inch tyres and a steel front bumper.
“The Ranger Super Duty project was about pushing the boundaries of what a mid-size truck can achieve,” Ford Ranger Super Duty Program Supervisor Drew O’Shannassy said.
“We focused relentlessly on core capability – increasing GVM, GAWR, and towing capacity while ensuring the truck remains incredibly durable and easy to operate in challenging environments.”
Five colours will be offered on the Ranger Super Duty from launch – Arctic White, Seismic Tan, Shadow Black, Command Grey, Aluminium Metallic – with a sixth (Traction Green) set to be added later.
