Geely has upgraded its EX5 electric SUV with a new 68.39kWh battery pack that adds an extra 45km to the base model’s claimed WLTP range, now totalling up to 475km. The power source upgrade comes in tandem with two new pieces of standard equipment that probably should’ve been included from launch: cargo blind and a Mode 2 charging cable.
The EX5 has only been available Down Under for a year or so, but launched in China in mid-2024 with news of the bigger battery breaking in mid-2025 – meaning the time was about right for its first meaningful local update.
No changes have been made to any other element of the vehicle like the motor or charging capabilities etc, though the enlarged battery has extended the base Complete’s range by 45km and the upper-spec Inspire’s by 40km.
Popular demand has seen Jungle Green, first introduced with the Starray EM-i, added to the EX5's colour palette and ‘premium paint option’ – joining Arctic White, Aquatic Green, Moonlit Silver, Volcanic Grey and Shadow Black.
The 2026 Geely EX5 is in and available to order from local showrooms as of today, with all versions covered by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, eight-year/unlimited-kilometre battery warranty and up to seven years of roadside assistance.
It shares dealer space with the similarly-sized plug-in hybrid Starray EM-i.
How much does the 2026 Geely EX5 cost?
Complete – $41,990 (+$1000)
Inspire – $45,990 (+$1000)
* Prices exclude on-road costs
