The 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma is ready for its global debut, having just completed its final phase of testing. Pitched as an upmarket IONIQ 5 N derivative, the inaugural Genesis Magma product will be revealed later this year and arrive Down Under in 2026.
Genesis has finished the development of its high-performance GV60 Magma electric SUV, meaning we can finally home in on the global debut.
The model was simultaneously confirmed and previewed in near-production concept form at the 2024 New York motor show and has undertaken quite the promotion tour as Hyundai’s luxury brand stirs up hype for the launch of its new ‘Magma’ performance division.
Following the concept’s most recent appearance at the Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this year, prototypes have been taken to the extreme climates of Sweden, California and New Zealand for torture testing before being put through its final paces in Korea.
With the standard GV60 essentially being a slightly smaller, upmarket Hyundai IONIQ 5, it makes sense that the Magma borrows heavily from the corresponding N – prototypes have been spotted wearing N-spec brakes and wheels, and we know from the concept there’ll be a new take on the Hyundai Group’s innovative N Active Sound Design and N e-shift systems.
Expect power and torque to at least match the IONIQ 5 N (478kW/770Nm), with the same true of the 0-100km/h time (3.4s) and top speed (260km/h).
Expect the GV60 Magma to up the IONIQ 5 N’s refinement, equipment and agility games – the latter due to its shorter wheelbase – as well as the asking price.
With both the Hyundai and pre-update GV60 Performance AWD retailing from just over $110,000 plus on-roads, it would be reasonable to expect the GV60 Magma to start north of $120,000 and possibly even approach $130,000 before it’s on the road.
It’s expected to arrive here by mid-2026.
