Hyundai Australia has rationalised its IONIQ 5 line-up for the 2026 model year, trimming the range down from 11 variants to four and axing the entry-level 63kWh battery pack, all while consolidating equipment levels.
The axing of the entry-level 125kW (63kWh) powertrain has forced the IONIQ 5’s entry price up $6400, however the surviving 168kW (84kWh) version has only risen $400 compared to its predecessor.

No changes have been made to the base model’s spec sheet – powertrain included – beyond the range-wide rollout of Digital Key 2.0, meaning it still rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels and comes with dual 12.3-inch displays, full LED exterior lighting, eco leather-accented upholstery, power-adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, remote start, wireless phone projection, a six-speaker sound system and dual-zone climate control.
Above that, the Elite (formerly known as the Dynamiq) adds bigger 20-inch wheels and stickier rubber as well as a powered tailgate, sliding centre console, power-adjustable passenger seat, sports pedals, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, head-up display, heated front seats and full eco leather upholstery.
The N-Line Premium (replacing the Epiq) adds projector LED headlights, a glass ‘vision’ roof, heated and power-adjustable rear seats, ventilated ‘relaxation’ front seats, a heated N-Line steering wheel, suede upholstery, black headliner, red trim inserts, memory function for all seats, rear door sunshades and an N-Line exterior design package.
Unlike before, the penultimate trim is only available with the 239kW dual-motor powertrain while the base grade and Elite can only be had with the 168kW single-motor set-up.

At the top of the tree, the IONIQ 5 N has gained the once optional glass roof as standard, plus an upgraded intelligent front lighting system, express windows, haptic feedback steering wheel, enhanced N Drift Optimiser Pro system (more customisation options, greater functionality) and updated N Active Sound system.
All these upgrades have added more than $4600 to the N’s asking price which now totals $115,000 before any optional paints or on-road costs.
The updated IONIQ 5 range is available to order now and covered by Hyundai’s new seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, with the battery covered for eight years/160,000km – whichever comes first.
How much does the 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 cost?

Elite RWD – $81,200 (new)
