JAC Motors Australia has teased a sub-$50,000 starting price for its Hunter PHEV dual-cab ute and detailed its key capabilities, including 360kW of power and a 3500kg braked towing capacity.

The firepower comes from a combination of a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a pair of electric motors, the latter of which draw current from a 31.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack that has a major hand in the Hunter’s (claimed) 1005km total fuel range and 1.6L/100km combined fuel consumption.
Bettering the GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV and BYD Shark 6 Premium is a 915kg payload while front and rear differential locks match the flagship version of the former.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) naturally features as well.

Reservations for the Hunter will open this evening at 5pm (May 5) with the first 1000 customers set to receive either a home charger or a $500 JAC genuine accessories voucher.
Full specifications and range details will be announced soon.
