The 2026 Jaecoo J5 electric vehicle (EV) will arrive Down Under next month in one guise, as the premium-intended Chinese brand dips its toe into the increasingly crowded electric SUV market.

As we’ve now come to expect from Chinese brands, the J5 EV Track will offer plenty of standard equipment, even though the Track grade is typically the base or mid-range option in other Jaecoo models.
Headline gear includes 18-inch aero alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, projector LED headlights, synthetic leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, an 8.9-inch digital instrument cluster, 13.2-inch infotainment screen, an eight-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, smartphone mirroring, a 50W wireless phone charger, 360-degree camera, voice command, and a glass roof.
The whole package is powered by a 155kW/288Nm electric motor on the front axle – making it front-wheel drive (FWD) – and a 61.1kWh lithium-ion battery that can be charged from 30-80 per cent in a claimed 28 minutes via a DC fast charger.
Claimed range is up to 402km on the WLTP cycle while 0-100km/h supposedly takes 7.7 seconds.

Another thing we can expect from Chinese OEMs is a competitive aftersales package, which the J5 EV has: an eight-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty (including the battery) and eight years of capped priced servicing.
Arriving next month, the EV Track will be the first J5 variant offered Down Under ahead of the turbo-petrol and hybrid versions, which will arrive in February 2026.
