Lexus Australia has announced the pricing and spec details of its new-generation ES sedan, with the Camry-based four-door offering both hybrid and electric powertrains for the first time.

Four variants are being offered Down Under, those being the 300h Luxury, 300h Luxury + Enhancement Pack (EP), 350e Sports Luxury and 500e Sports Luxury.
The two hybrids feature Toyota’s fifth-generation 2.5-litre hybrid system that’s good in this application for a combined 144kW, with drive sent exclusively to the front wheels by an eCVT, however Lexus is yet to announce an official fuel consumption figure.
As for the EVs, the 350e is motivated by a 167kW motor on its front axle while the 500e adds an 88kW unit to the rear axle for a total of 252kW.

Each draw current from a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack capable of 150kW DC fast charging and 22kW three-phase AC charging, but we’re yet to see a claimed range for either grade – European versions are good for between 493-581km and 465-529km respectively.
Standard equipment on the ES 300h Luxury includes synthetic leather upholstery, eight-way power adjustable front seats with heating, shift-by-wire gear selector, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic roof with electronic sunshade, electrochromatic rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, a 14-inch infotainment system, sat-nav, wireless phone projection, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-speaker audio system, DAB+ digital radio and connected services.
The 300h Luxury + EP adds Lexus Digital Key, auto-dimming driver’s wing mirror, a digital rearview mirror, ventilated front seats, perforated upholstery, memory function for the driver’s seat and wing mirrors, a head-up display, air ionisation, multi-colour ambient lighting, a wireless smartphone charger, 360-degree camera, intelligent park assist and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.

The Luxury + EP trim serves as the basis for the Sport Luxury EVs, both of which add 21-inch alloys to the mix, along with high-grade LED headlamps (with the adaptive high-beam system), multi-weather lighting, adaptive suspension, easy-close doors and acoustic glass.
Semi-aniline leather accented upholstery also features, as does a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dynamic multi-colour interior lighting, bamboo ornamentation, front radiant heating, two wireless phone chargers, rear door sunshades and active sound control.
Complementing its extra firepower, the flagship 500e Sport Luxury nabs Lexus’ ‘Interactive Manual Drive’ system which replicated an automatic transmission and engine sounds.

The new-generation Lexus ES will arrive in showrooms in the coming weeks.
