Toyota is just days away from some sort of big reveal, and if we had to take an educated guess, we’d say it has something to do with the upcoming 2026 Lexus LFR/Toyota GR GT3.
We could be about to get our second official look at the 2026 Lexus LFR and/or its Toyota GR GT3 racing sibling, possibly even a global debut.
In the latest of a series of cryptic updates and clues posted to a dedicated teaser site, the following passage was published: “The sign at Fuji Speedway has changed. On the left is the 2000GT. Next to it is the LFA. And next to that...?”.
The 2000GT and LFA are two of the Toyota Group’s greatest and most iconic performance halos, sitting right at the top of the model hierarchy in their respective eras, so it would make sense for the twin-turbo V8 (hybrid?) LFR to be the alluded-to model.
We’ve seen plenty of the LFR this year, having been spotted testing in California in June and then making a camouflaged cameo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a month later, plus all the circuit sightings of the GR GT3.
Both it and its racing sibling have been developed at the Fuji Speedway, Spa-Francorchamps, the Nürburgring and Pikes Peak, adding extra weight to implications of the Fuji signage easter egg.
What the other brands/sub-brands have cooking is anyone’s guess, but odds are it’ll be interesting.
Toyota bosses previously confirmed the LFR and GR GT3 would break cover ahead together of the latter’s 2026 World Endurance Championship debut in March, meaning the time is about right to pull back the covers.
We can’t imagine Toyota would go to the trouble of launching a dedicated hype website, schedule a YouTube livestream or pay for new speedway signage if the cars weren’t ready to shed the camo and step into the limelight.
The LFR has thus far been pitched as a would-be Mercedes-AMG GT and Porsche 911 Turbo rival, while the GR GT3 will mix it with BMW, McLaren, Ferrari, Ford, Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini on-circuit, replacing the ancient Lexus RCF GT3.
