The 2026 MG S6 EV has touched down in Australia, on sale now in two variations: entry-level single-motor Essence RWD from $49,990 drive-away and range-topping Essence AWD guise from $56,990 d/a.

MG Motor Australia has announced pricing and specification details for its new MG S6 electric SUV, now on sale to rival the likes of the BYD Sealion 7, Geely EX5 and Tesla Model Y.
Available in one trim level (Essence) but with two powertrains, the range-opening MG S6 RWD delivers 180kW/350Nm from its rear-mounted e-motor and promises 530km of driving range (WLTP) from the 77kWh NMC battery (fitted to all variants) as well as a claimed 0-100km/h sprint of 7.3 seconds.
Meanwhile, the top-spec MG S6 Essence AWD brings 266kW/540Nm from its dual-motor set-up, a claimed 485km (WLTP) range, and cuts the sprint to 100km/h down to 5.1 sec.

Both are capped at a maximum speed of 200km/h.
Rapid DC charging in every MG S6 is said to take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 38 minutes,?charging at?a maximum 144kW.
The BEV system also incorporates a heat pump, and four regenerative braking levels, including one-pedal mode.

The MG S6 is right in the thick of the medium SUV class in outer dimensions, measuring 4708mm long, 1912mm wide and 1664mm high. As such, you get a 581L boot (1690 litres with rear seats folded), along with an 86L frunk for the RWD model (and 67L for the AWD).
Standard equipment across both models includes ‘Gulfstream’ 20-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, a full-width rear light bar with 3D effect design, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, and an 11-speaker audio system with subwoofer.
Outside, MG quotes a 0.27 drag coefficient for its new SUV, which uses an active grille shutter in its Cyberster-inspired split grille.

Inside, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated vegan leather seats with suede upholstery and heated outboard seats in the second row also feature, along with ambient interior lighting and wireless phone charging.
Infotainment is covered by a 12.8-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster features, as does a head-up display.
Other features include voice control functionality and integrated connected apps, services, and finally the iSmart companion app (with 12 months of free access). No over-the-air (OTA) updates are available for now.

Aside from drivetrain differences, the AWD also adds a panoramic sunroof.
The standard fitment of MG’s Pilot driver assistance suite brings lane assist, adaptive cruise control (with intelligent cruise assist, traffic jam assist and intelligent speed limit assist), a 360-degree camera, rear cross traffic alert with braking and blind spot monitoring.
Although it’s yet to receive an official ANCAP safety rating, MG says it expects to announce a five-star ANCAP result soon.

Seven exterior colour options include the standard Dover White, while optional Stratford Gold, Black Pearl, Camden Grey, Piccadilly Blue, Sterling Silver and Diamond Red, each cost $700.
The MG S6 EV comes with MG Motors’ seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty that extends up to 10 years or 250,000km when serviced exclusively with MG.
The high-voltage battery is covered for seven-years or 150,000km and service intervals are set annually or every 25,000km.
The MG S6 is available to order now with stock due in local dealerships this week.
It arrives as MG's largest battery-electric offering Down Under, joining the MG4 Urban, MG4 EV, MG S5 and Cyberster.
