Subaru has revealed the all-new Getaway, a large all-electric seven-seat SUV, at the 2026 New York auto show. Not only is it the brand’s biggest EV to date, the Getaway is also the most powerful production Subaru yet, though it's not yet been confirmed for Australia.

Positioned as a family-sized SUV above the Trailseeker, it offers three rows of seating and all-wheel drive (AWD) across the range thanks to a dual-motor powertrain good for 313kW and 0-100km/h in less than five seconds.
A 95.8kWh lithium-ion battery delivers a claimed driving range of more than 480km and can be charged at up to 150kW on DC power (10-80% in approx 30min).
The body stands 211mm above the ground on variant-dependant 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels, while a pair X-Mode off-road drive modes and hill descent control are on hand for when the terrain gets rough.
Inside, the Getaway offers seating for up to seven, with the second row comprising either a traditional bench seat or a pair captain’s chairs depending on the variant.
Subaru says occupants up to 183cm tall can be accommodated in all three rows.
Cargo space behind the second row is rated at a vast 1291 litres, with a still handy 450L available when the third row’s in place.
Equipment highlights include a 14-inch central touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control, USB-C charging ports in every row and dedicated third-row air vents.

Subaru says the Getaway will go on sale in the US from late 2026, with pricing and final specifications to be announced closer to launch.
A lower-capacity standard-range version with a smaller battery is also planned.
For Australia, the picture remains unclear seeing as it hasn't been confirmed for right-hand-drive production.
