2026 Subaru Solterra gets more for less 

Upgraded electric SUV revealed with more driving range, power and equipment for less money

The News 

The 2026 Subaru Solterra electric SUV has been detailed for Australia where it’s now on sale from $64K with a host of upgrades and improvements, plus a whopping $6,000 saving over the outgoing model. 

The Key Details

  • Now offers up to 566km of driving range
  • Refreshed exterior and more equipment for updated EV

The Finer Details 

The new Solterra sports a fresh exterior, with a new front bumper, redesigned headlights, and new 18- or 20-inch wheel designs, while inside, a new 14-inch infotainment system featuring dual wireless phone charging pads, and 64-colour ambient interior lighting (linked to drive modes).

A new multi-terrain monitor adds visibility in challenging terrain, while top-spec all-wheel drive (AWD) Touring grades ($69,990 plus on-road costs) now get ventilated front seats and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.

Standard kit includes a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while top-spec models add a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

Safety and convenience tech features Emergency Driving Stop System, Lane Tracing Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a 360-degree camera, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.

Based on the Japanese brand’s latest e-Subaru Global Platform, the new Solterra is said to deliver enhanced ride comfort, balance and safety. Key highlights include the brand’s Symmetrical AWD system, 212mm of ground clearance, dual mode X-Mode, and drive mode select.

A larger 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack now delivers a maximum WLTP driving range of 566km in entry-level grades – up from 485km – while the AWD Touring offers 517km (WLTP).

Underneath, more powerful dual electric motors combine to deliver 252kW – a 92kW increase compared to the outgoing Solterra.

Towing capability has also been increased, with the electric SUV now good for 1500kg braked towing (up from 750kg). 

The EV’s maximum AC charging has also been boosted to 22kW (up from 11kW), while a maximum DC charging rate of 150kW will see the battery go from 0-80 per cent in around 30 minutes.

Altitude Black Mica has been added to the Solterra’s colour palette, while AWD Touring variants can option a two-tone exterior paint finish and new natural leather-appointed seat trim in blue/black for $1500.
