Toyota’s electric SUV range will expand next month with the arrival of the new bZ4X Touring; a larger, more powerful flagship that builds on the standard bZ4X formula with extra space. First confirmed for Australia last year, the Touring will arrive from $69,990 plus on-road costs.

The Finer Details

Though it wears a familiar badge, the bZ4X Touring is a different animal to the regular bZ4X that has been on sale locally since late 2023.

Stretched by 140mm behind the rear axle, the Touring ditches the standard bZ4X’s fastback-style tail in favour of a more upright and practical wagon rear end, lifting luggage capacity from 452 litres to 550.

The extra space is aimed squarely at families and buyers chasing EV efficiency without sacrificing everyday usability.

The Touring also ups the ante mechanically. It is offered exclusively with a dual-motor powertrain producing a combined 280kW, making it the most powerful factory monocoque Toyota SUV in Australia.

Toyota claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.4 seconds, while energy comes from a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery with a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 488km.

DC fast charging is supported at up to 150kW, while three-phase AC charging of up to 22kW allows for faster top-ups at home or work.

Visually, the Touring distinguishes itself with unique 20-inch black alloy wheels, front and rear skid plates, ladder-style roof rails, black wheel-arch cladding, a bonnet insert and a rear window wiper.

Inside, it mirrors the bZ4X AWD’s high specification, adding features such as eight-way powered front seats with heating and ventilation, a panoramic glass roof, digital rearview mirror, two wireless phone chargers, a 1500W inverter and a 14-inch touchscreen playing through a nine-speaker JBL premium audio system.

The Road Ahead

The arrival of the bZ4X Touring gives Toyota a second electric model in Australia and a more practical, performance-focused alternative to the standard bZ4X.

With local deliveries starting in May, the Touring becomes the new flagship of Toyota’s EV line-up as the brand continues to broaden its electric line-up.

How much does the 2026 Toyota bZ4X cost?
2WD – $55,990
AWD – $67,990
