A fresh leak of the inbound 2026 Toyota Hilux has revealed how the rugged ute will adopt a cabin heavily inspired by the latest LandCruiser Prado 250 Series.
The leaked drawings, widely shared over Instagram among users, like @car_secrets, reveals how the upgraded Hilux will gain a cabin architecture from Toyota’s latest SUV, including its twin-12.3-inch screens that are used for the instrument cluster and infotainment.
Looking like they might have been lifted from a patent application, the new images of the radically different cabin design might surprise some, as the 2026 Hilux is not all-new and carries over the current truck’s underpinnings and mechanicals.
Set to run an updated version of the current Prado’s software, it’s thought the new Hilux will miss out on the most sophisticated Arene system used on the new 2026 Toyota RAV4.
The fresh images suggest the Hilux will borrow the gear shifter and boxy air vents below the infotainment system, as well as feature a row of toggle switches that are already used as shortcuts for the air conditioning.
Dual gloveboxes, a push-button start and the Prado-like four-wheel drive gear selector to the left of the gear-lever are all present.
Attracting some debate is the panel directly ahead of the gear lever that looks like it could be either another touch-screen or a door for a third stowage space, not that many drivers will need it with the HiLux already boasting twin gloveboxes.
The exterior design photos, meanwhile, show how Toyota stylists will sharpen up the Hilux as part of an attempt to hide its dated underpinnings.
It also shows how they have pinched the handy rear bumper side steps from the Ford Ranger to aid access to the rear bed.
At the rear, the drawing also uncover how the new HiLux will come with new LED taillamps that will feature a thin C-signature, aping the full-size Ford F-150.
Despite no fresh intel, it’s thought the Toyota ute will carry over its 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that will feature 48-volt mild-hybrid tech on some models.
Set for an unveil later this year, the latest reports suggest the 2026 Toyota Hilux is shaping up for a launch in November, with the Australian sales to start in the first half of 2026.
