2026 Toyota Hilux steps out via CGI

Last week we brought you spy images of the next-generation 2026 Toyota Hilux, this week we bring you speculative renders of what the upcoming ute looks like under all that camouflage.

Mocked up by Kolesa.ru, these images depict more of an evolutionary design for the new Hilux as opposed to the revolutionary, Tacoma and Tundra-inspired look expected previously, with the changes really only applying to the front apron and rear end.

The new front end is defined by its squinted, narrow-eyed frown and black centre fascia which extends down to an underbite front bumper.

While the headlights and DRLs have been slimmed down, the indicators and foglights have been enlarged and relocated higher up the ensemble, now housed within a pronounced set of cheeks.

The rear end is a little more ambiguous, but the artist has forecast a thoroughly modern vertical LED tail-light arrangement paired with a more sculpted tailgate.

We already know the doors and glasshouse will be virtually identical to the current model which only adds weight to the expectation the ‘new-generation’ Hilux will be more of a heavy facelift with both the existing platform and powertrains being carried over, albeit with some key refinements.

Chassis upgrades should include more refined and comfortable suspension along with a brake upgrade – note the rear discs – whereas the powertrain is likely to be the same 2.8-litre turbo-diesel mild hybrid as the current V-Active variants, though a new eight-speed automatic transmission could be on the cards as per the Prado 250 Series.

The new Hilux is anticipated to make its global debut later this year and enter Aussie showrooms in the first half of 2026.
