Audi has confirmed the all-electric A2 e-tron today, a new entry-level model family set to debut globally in late 2026. Built in Ingolstadt, Germany, the compact EV expands Audi’s lower-priced electric offerings and previews the A2’s design via a new teaser sketch.

Announced during Audi’s Annual Media Conference, the new 2027 Audi A2 e-tron marks the brand’s next expansion step in the compact EV category – one of the fastest-growing segments in major European markets.
The model revives the A2 badge, previously used on a lightweight city car.
The new generation adopts the same brief but in a fully electric format.

Where the orignal Audi A2 focused on low weight and clever aerodynamics, the EV version will rely on a compact battery, efficient e-motor setup and a low-drag body (based on evidence via the teaser sketch) to keep energy consumption down.
Audi’s CEO Gernot Dollner said the A2 e-tron will help broaden its entry-level EV footprint while complementing larger upcoming models.
“We’ve listened. Our customers want electric mobility that impresses in everyday life.
“The A2 e-tron is our promise to deliver exactly that – efficient, compact, and confident.” he said.
With production locked in for Ingolstadt, the model is part of Audi’s wider push to transition its European facilities to electric-vehicle manufacturing.

While Audi Australia has been contacted for comment, it has not yet confirmed local launch plans. However, the A2 e-tron would slot naturally into Australia’s growing small-EV category.
The A2 e-tron’s size, positioning and expected pricing could make it a competitor to vehicles like the Zeekr X and forthcoming Volkswagen ID.2 if it comes here.
Given that many premium EVs currently on sale in Australia sit well above mainstream price points, the A2 e-tron could open the brand up to a broader buyer demographic.
The A2 e-tron will be revealed in full in the northern autumn/fall 2026, so springtime in Australia – or roughly the July, August or September.
Technical specifications and battery details will follow.
If Audi Australia secures the model, first deliveries would likely occur sometime after the European rollout.
Its arrival would give Audi a new entry point into the EV space and potentially expand the brand’s customer base in Australia’s increasingly competitive compact-EV segment.
