2027 Ford Ranger Super Duty XLT Single and Super Cabs announced

A pair of two-seat Super Duty XLTs are on their way for those wanting max load and equipment

The News

Ford has confirmed it will extend availability of its more generously-appointed XLT grade to other body styles in the Ranger Super Duty lineup. Initially confirmed exclusively as a dual-cab offering, the XLT will also be offered as a two-seater, in both single cab-chassis and super cab-chassis configurations as part of the MY27 range.

The Key Details

  • 2027 Ford Ranger Super Duty XLT single and super cab due Q4
  • XLT single cab-chassis priced from $88,990 plus ORCs (not including tray)
  • XLT super cab-chassis priced from $92,490 (not including tray)
  • Carpet to become optional equipment in standard Super Duty variants

The Finer Details

Beyond the super cab’s stretched cabin having its occasional-use rear seats deleted in favour of more storage space, the rest of the equipment list tracks identically to the just-launched Super Duty XLT dual-cab: 18-inch alloys, a carpeted interior, power-adjustable heated/ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and all-weather floor mats.

The 2027 Ford Ranger Super Duty XLT single cab-chassis will retail from $88,990 plus on-roads, making it the only XLT variant to limbo under the $90K barrier.

The super cab variant meantime will start at $92,490, however neither of these asking prices include a tray. For the single-cab, that means an extra $7121 for a galvanised steel tray ($9376 for a matte black powder coated tray, or $8331-$8826 for a body-colour one), while the super cab’s official Ford tray costs between $6296 and $8551 depending on finish.

As with all other Ranger Super Duty variants, the two-seat XLTs will feature a detuned version of the standard Ranger’s 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, developing 154kW/600Nm and sending power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

With the same 4500kg towing capacity, 4500kg gross vehicle mass and 8000kg gross combined mass as the rest of the Super Duty range, the two-seater XLTs will also boast more payload headroom than the existing dual-cab pick-up and cab-chassis, with the single cab able to carry up to 1982kg on its back and the super cab up to 1885kg.

The Road Ahead

Coinciding with the arrival of the two-seat Ranger Super Duty XLTs, a handful of other options will also be applied to Ford’s go-anywhere ute around the same time.

For the 2027 model year, standard versions of the Ranger Super Duty single and super cab will be able to be optioned with a factory-installed carpet, priced at $1000 for the former and $1250 for the latter.

Buyers who don’t need the Super Duty’s massive 4500kg towing capacity can also opt to take a 3500kg-rated tongue at no cost, which may prove more useful to those who already own a trailer or campervan equipped for a 50mm tow ball, rather than a beefier 70mm item.

That option only changes the tow ball – the ute’s structure remains the same, and unlocking the full 4.5-tonne capacity is a matter of sliding in the correct tongue.
