2027 Jeep Renegade EV confirmed, priced below $US25,000

Jeep lays down its future model plans, including all-new baby SUV, new-generation Compass and more

The Jeep Renegade will return in 2027 as the US brand’s smallest and (potentially) most affordable model, but this time it will feature a battery-electric powertrain.

Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed the return of the Renegade nameplate overnight at parent Stellantis’ annual Investor Day, where it was also announced that a new-generation Jeep Compass small SUV would be released by the end of 2027.

Before then, the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S will launch in the US before the end of this year as the brand’s first EV, with the Wrangler-sized Recon to follow shortly after. Both have already been confirmed for Australia.

Other new models are also in the pipeline, including an anticipated all-new Jeep Cherokee later next year (described only for now as a new ‘Mainstream UV’), as well as facelifts for the remainder of the current line-up.

By 2027, Jeep says it will have 10 SUVs in the market and just the one ute, Gladiator.

It’s not known whether combustion-engined versions of the Renegade (including plug-in hybrid) are also in development, however Jeep has confirmed the EV will be priced from less than $US25,000 ($A37,700) when it reaches the market.

Specifications are still to be confirmed, but the Renegade is understood to be the model referred to recently by Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, who said: “In the same way we brought the €20,000 Citroen e-C3, you will have a $25,000 Jeep very soon.

“We are using the same expertise because we are a global company and this is totally fluid across the engineering world of Stellantis,” he added.

So expect close ties to the Citroen e-C3, which has been ruled out for Australia but should be a short and sweet addition to the French brand’s European range.

Power comes from a front axle-mounted 83kW e-motor, which draws energy from a 44kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Driving range is quoted at up to 320km (WLTP).

The incoming new-generation Jeep Compass, meanwhile, is expected to be closely related to the Peugeot 3008 and e-3008, based on Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture.

The Compass, and the expected new Cherokee, are likely to be offered with EV, 4xe PHEV and regular ICE powertrains.

By broadening its model range, Jeep hopes to increase global sales from one million to 1.5 million sales annually.

It also plans to expand its manufacturing footprint in the US from 760,000 units annually to more than one million.
