Mercedes-AMG has teased what it’s promised to be “the most radical Black Series ever” in the form of the upcoming GT Black, which will serve as the homologation basis for the firm's next-generation GT3 endurance racer.

Shown alongside its racing sibling in a lurid yellow, black and white camouflage (orange for the racer), it’s clear AMG isn’t exaggerating when it says the new Black Series halo will be ‘radical’: the only definitive way to tell which is the road car is the presence of an AMG numberplate.
Black Series halos have been increasingly boisterous ever since the original SLK 55 Black Series debuted in 2006.
The SLK was followed by the CLK, then the nuclear twin-turbo V12 SL 65, then the C-Class, then the SLS and most recently, the first-generation GT.
It’s clear from the press images the second-gen GT Black Series is intended as a true road-going racer in the ilk of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, potentially more so.

You can bet your bottom dollar the new model will be significantly more aggressive, capable and expensive than its predecessor, no doubt packing a formidable twin-turbocharged V8 as standard and an armada of carbon fibre.
“The history of the Black Series stands for innovation, uncompromising performance and the constant pursuit of the limit,” Mercedes-AMG said.
“Further details on both vehicles will be announced at a later date.”
