Sino-Swedish car brand Polestar has announced more details of its inbound 2027 Polestar 7, confirming manufacturing of the new model will shift from China to an unknown European plant, in a bid to avoid tariffs.
Confirming the Polestar 7 name, Polestar design boss Philipp Römers said the new car will come with radical new styling.
“Polestar is known for its progressive design, with each car standing out and creating its own buzz – so too will Polestar 7,” he said.
“It is incredibly exciting to bring Polestar’s design ethos to a new segment. Polestar 7 will be everything our customers expect from us, both in terms of design and performance.”
Tipped to pick up where the latest Polestar 4 left off, it’s thought the new 7 will also ditch the rear windscreen for a digital rear view camera, allowing designers to indulge in a more striking shape for its Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X rival.
Beneath the skin it’s thought the Polestar 7 will be based on Geely’s SEA architecture that already underpins the Smart #3 and Polestar 4.
Hoping to address reported lower than expected sales for the Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs, Polestar says that thanks to the arrival of the cars like the 7 and the Porsche Taycan-rivalling Polestar 5 later this year, it is on track for 30-35 per cent growth over the next three years.
Also helping it boost sales is a plan to increase its number of retail spaces by 75 per cent from now until 2026, although there’s no word if this decision will affect Australia.
