Talented digital creator Theottle has mocked up their impression of what the next-generation 2027 Toyota HiLux GR Sport might look like, should the flagship 4x4 ute be given the greenlight.
By now we all know what the new-generation HiLux looks like and that it’s essentially a heavy facelift of the old model.
But missing from the range is a wide-bodied halo, with even the luxury-focused Rogue reverting to standard wheel tracks, sacrificing stability, dynamics, and capability.
There’s still a chance the GR Sport could return, but the Rugged X name is returning early next year – likely taking over the luxury-capable niche once held by the Rogue and paving the way for a future GR Sport.

Whatever the case, the GR Sport variant will top the range, bringing back all the familiar goodies: wider tracks, flared arches, raised suspension, bigger and more aggressive tyres, an angrier aesthetic, and heaps of GR badges.
Theottle’s render uses the new Rogue as the canvas with the obligatory red hero colour, contrasting silver skid plate and black trim treatment.

Seeing as the old GR Sport packed some extra punch over its lesser brethren and the entire sixth-generation range features a carryover turbo-diesel powertrain, it would be reasonable to expect the same of the next version.
Odds are we won’t see the new GR Sport for a while yet – not before 2027 – but we’re sure there’ll be plenty of fanfare when it debuts.
