30th anniversary M3 confirmed for Oz

Fast BMW four-door gets special paint and Comp Pack to celebrate 30th

BMW Australia will later this month confirm allocation and pricing for the M3 ‘30 Years M3’.

Built to celebrate the anniversary of the iconic badge, the limited edition will be capped at just 500 units worldwide. A very limited number only is expected to arrive Down Under.

As previously detailed, the M3 ‘30 Years M3’ can be distinguished by its custom Macao Blue metallic – a colour introduced as a special option for the first generation of the BMW M3.

Based on the latest Competition Package M3, the ‘30 Years M3’ sports a 331kW version of BMW’s twin-turbo inline six and rides on Adaptive M suspension. Staggered 20-inch wheels are standard and the car is offered (in Europe at least) in both M-DCT dual clutch and six-speed manual gearbox variants.

BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line external dress-up items are augmented with exclusively designed M gills in the front wings bearing ‘30 Years M3’ badges.

Inside special seats, seatbelts and build number plaque feature. ‘30 Years M3’ is embroidered into the front headrests and there’s a bespoke instrument panel graphic, as well as sill plates and the like. Trim is Black/Fjord Blue or optionally Black/Silverstone with “colour-matching contrast seams”.

The first M3 was launched in 1986. Since then four more generations of M3 have thrilled keen drivers the world over.
