Porsche has only just released its second-generation 911 Turbo, but already the tuning mobs have turned their attention to the Zuffenhausen road rocket -- and here's the first example.
Pictured alongside is the 9ff Speed9, a 911 Turbo Cabrio-derived roadster that recaptures the essence of the Porsche 356/1500S Speedster (1955), as well as the low-volume 911 Speedster (1989) and 964 Speedster (1993).
Those with good memories will recall that 9ff is the same tuner that last year claimed the record (409km/h) for the world's fastest street-legal car with its GT9.
Although not quite as bonkers as the GT9, the Speed9 still churns out a more than robust 478kW (compared with 368kW for the standard 911 Turbo), while the torque delivery -- said to be "strong as an ox" -- peaks at 890Nm at just 2850rpm.
The power/torque hike is the result of 9ff F650 VTG turbochargers, an ECU upgrade, a 100-cell sports catalytic converter and a 9ff sports exhaust system.
However, it's the external mods that are the real story with this car and -- in true Speedster fashion -- it features a chopped windscreen and a more streamlined derriere. The Speed9 also scores bespoke front and rear bumpers/spoilers, as well as unique side skirts.
The lowered suspension features adjustable stabilisers and dampers at the front and rear, while the braking package is upgraded via 380mm compound ceramic discs, clamped by six-piston callipers and 9ff brake pads.
The wheel/tyre package comprises 19-inch 9ff rims shod with 235/35-ZR 19 rubber at the front and 295/30-ZR 19 gumballs at the rear.
The tarted-up interior is lathered in leather/Alcantara trim, while occupants are cosseted by 9ff Speed9 design seats. There's also a nicely integrated roll-cage and a speedometer calibrated to 400km/h.
Visitors to the Essen motor show will be able to take a gander at the car in the metal, as it was unveiled at the German expo on Saturday (November 28).
