The police officers first stopped the man around 8.30am allegedly using a handheld mobile phone while driving on Sydney Road in Melbourne’s north.
The 25-year-old man was fined $496 and 4 demerit points before he continued on his way, driving towards the Hume Freeway.
Around ten minutes later, the same man was stopped by a different police patrol on the Hume Freeway after they saw him allegedly steering his car using his knees while eating a bowl of cereal.
The man was issued another fine, this time for $248 for failing to have full and proper control of a vehicle.
Benalla Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Owen Clarke said that they would like to remind drivers that behaviour that jeopardizes the safety of anyone on the road will be dealt with accordingly.
“The Hume Freeway is a road with the highest speed limit in Victoria at 110km/h so drivers should keep an eye out for our regular patrols that are targeting this type of offending.”
No word on what cereal was being consumed by the driver but at $248, it was a very expensive brunch.
