A unique Lamborghini Sián made from more than 400,000 LEGO Technic pieces is on display at Museo Automobili Lamborghini to celebrate the raging bull’s ongoing creative relationship with LEGO.
A 1:8 scale LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 was released in 2020 in the vivid lime-green body colour and golden rims which are available on the real Sián. The 1:8 scale only had 3,696 pieces, so this 1:1 scale really challenges the LEGO builder in all of us with 396,304 more pieces to assemble.
More than 154 different types of LEGO pieces were used in the full-scale version to ensure that the model embodied the unmistakable outline of the Lamborghini Sián, right down to the smallest details.
The full-scale LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián weighs in at 2,200 kg, making it 606 kg heavier than the real car. The development and construction process took 8,660 hours and was created by 15 design, engineering and construction specialists from the LEGO team in Kladno, the Czech Republic.
The perfectly proportioned chassis is covered with made-to-measure hexagonal LEGO Technic pieces that are interconnected and form a shell. The design pays tribute to the six-sided shape which is a key feature in Lamborghini’s design, with reference to the iconic hexagonal tail lights and the shape of the exhausts.
The word Sián means “lightning” or “thunderbolt” in the Bolognese dialect so the experts from LEGO highlighted this by making the lights and the stylish thunderbolt that flashes down the bodywork shine like the Y-shaped headlights on the real car, while also creating hexagonal tail lights that can turn on and off.
On the inside, the precise detailing continues with a LEGO brick recreation of the Lambo’s steering wheel decorated with the famous Lamborghini badge and the Italian flag, the instrument panel as well as racing seats.
This is the first large-scale model by LEGO to have a paint-effect UV colour coating, which will help to make the model’s brick colour last longer. The colour perfectly matches the hue of the 1:8 scale LEGO Technic model and was applied by the Lamborghini paint shop to ensure that the sports car had a fitting finish.
