A1 Sportback gets S goodies

Audi has played dress-up with its entry-level A1 Sportback

Audi Australia has given its entry level A1 Sportback the opportunity to play dress-ups. Offered as a limited edition of 200 models, the new A1 Sportback S line Competition adds a number of upper crust features to the maker’s otherwise entry-level model.

Audi says the S line goodies were previously only available as standard in the A1 line-up’s top 136kW 1.4 TFSI Sport variant. In the new A1 Sportback S line Competition, they are combined with a far milder 90kW/200Nm engine of the same displacement. A seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox is standard.

Audi says the new A1 is priced at $35,500. The company claims the $2500 premium over the standard 90kW A1 represents “a significant value equation for customers”. The total S line package is valued at over $8000, it says.

The 200 A1 specials are offered at the Attraction level of specification. The S line exterior package includes 17-inch five-spoke alloys, front fog lights, LED tail lights, rear park sensors and body colour and trim upgrades.

The A1 Sportback S line Competition also gives purchasers the option of choosing from four ‘premium’ paint colours at no additional cost. The choices are Glacier White, Ice Silver, Misano Red and Phantom Black.
