Fiat’s performance sub-brand Abarth has commemorated the 50th anniversary of Carlos Abarth’s setting records at the famous F1 Monza race circuit with a special-edition of the 500 Abarth.
Called the 695 Biposto Record, worldwide just 133 will be made -- the same number of actual records set by Abarth over 50 years of car-making.
Powered by the same 140kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo that powers the range-topping 695 Biposto model, the special-edition takes the same 5.9 seconds to sprint from standstill to 100km/h, topping out at an identical 230km/h.
Helping channel the power efficiently to the road the Record comes standard with a mechanical limited-slip differential. The special-edition also adds 18-inch OZ alloys, large Brembo brakes and an Akrapovic exhaust.
Inside, there’s a pair of Sabelt carbon-shell seats with four-point harnesses, plus a special plaque indicating which of the 133 cars built is yours.
The Record limited-edition is available only in Modena Yellow and gains an enamelled ‘695 Record’ badge and an aluminium bonnet.
On sale now in Europe, it’s not known how many will make it down to the Southern Hemisphere, but if the Record does it won’t come cheap.
In the UK it’s on sale now for a jaw-dropping $73,000.
